In an interview withPaperin August 2022, Madonna explained the message behind itmusic, music. “When you think about all the songs, whether it's 'Like a Virgin' or 'Material Girl' or 'Express Yourself' or 'Papa Don't Preach,' I was very invested in empowering women ... part of the story,” she said. "Because I think even though women were making great dance records, I felt like in the early days, even though the songs and the melodies were really strong and the singers were really good, they weren't really investing in making women think." Wow, I don't have to live in a man's world, live under the male gaze for the rest of my life. I can look at life in a different way and not adapt. I can have my own voice and my own vision." So that was an important element.
Madonna said it tooDiversity2019 about his plans for his music at the time. “I'm just looking for interesting and fun ways to re-release my back catalog and introduce my music to a new generation. I am focused on that and have been writing the script for my film for the last two years. all the timefreezeit was so much fun, but one day I woke up and said, 'I'm tired of living in the past!' I want to tour again, I'm a creature of the stage. This is my happy place," she said.
Madonna, who is also working on a biopic about her life and career starring Julia Garner, also told Variety why she wanted to make the film. "I have a very long script that is very difficult for me to shorten. I cut it off, but it's like cutting off my limbs," she said. "I've had an extraordinary life, I have to make an extraordinary film. It was also a preemptive strike because a lot of people tried to make films about me. Mostly misogynistic men. So I put my foot in the door and said, 'No one is going to tell my story but me.'
Madonna also told Oprah Winfrey andabout the magazine2004 about how she would describe her work. "I have a lot of fears. My job is to overcome my fears. The irony of being an artist is that I have huge insecurities. People are shocked when they hear that I think my legs are fat or that I don't look pretty. We all have insecurities. We'd be lying if we said no," she said.
She also told Oprah about a fundamental principle that influences her life. "Each of us is responsible for everything that happens in our lives. When good things happen—we win an award, meet the love of our life, or get a promotion—we hold ourselves accountable. But when bad things happen—we get fired or get divorced—we often don't take responsibility. We call it something that just happened. Now I understand that just as we can bring out the positive, we can also bring out the negative," she said.
Madonna okabout the magazineabout how his spirituality influences his music. "I've never felt so creative," she said. “One thing I've learned is that I don't own my talent, I manage it. And if I learn to manage my talent properly – and if I accept to channel only the things that come from God – the talent will continue to flow through me.”
